December 1, 2011 – Business After Hours “Greet & Meet”, Robert W. “Buddy” Costley, Superintendent of Butts County School and his family. 3 to 5 pm, Ernest Battle Professional Learning Center, 218 Woodland Way, Jackson, GA 30233

Dec 3, and Dec. 10, 2011 – City of Jackson, the Salvation Army with corporate sponsors, Harry Lewis and
Trucks, Inc., “Canathon and Christmas Stocking Fund Drive” will be collecting can goods, money, etc on these days. Locations will be the intersections, Piggly Wiggly and Dollar General Market. They are collecting canned goods, toys and cash donations in order to provide meals and toys for needy families. Also you can drop off items at the many partners for this very worthwhile project. The Chamber of Commerce has a collection box at the Chamber Office if you would like to drop off there.

Dec. 2, 2011 – 11am – Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for Verizon Wireless (Procom Wireless), 2 Mulberry Street, Jackson, GA 30233 – Ribbon Cutting will began at 11am and immediately following will begin their Grand Opening Weekend Celebration. Refreshments and snacks throughout the day, as well as take home treats for everyone attending! The store will be offering 25% off accessories as well as raffling off multiple gifts including free Bluetooth’s and a free Smartphone.

Dec. 2, 2011 – Annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade, Santa Claus is coming to town. Starts at 6pm from Jackson High School. Please call of come by the Chamber to register your entry and for a copy of the rules and regulations. No Charge!! 770-775-4839. WJGA will be broadcasting live from downtown. Tune in to 92.1 to follow the parade route. One of our chamber members will be set up downtown for food items such as Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Barbeque, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Bake Potatoes, Fried Deal Pickles, Fried Oreos, etc. This will be located by the viewing stand downtown. Horses are welcome but a $5 fee will be charged for clean-up purposes.

Dec. 3, 2011 – 10am to 2pm – Jackson Flower Shop Christmas Open House – Pre-Christmas Sale – Refreshments Served, 119 E. Second St.

Dec. 6, 2011 – Sylvan Grove Hospital Auxiliary – Lighting of the LoveLite Tree starting at 6pm. Entertainment and refreshments at Sylvan Grove Hospital.

Dec. 8, 2011 – Holiday Business After Hours – United Bank from 5:30 to 7pm – 530 Covington Street, Jackson, GA

Dec. 10, 2011 – Mary Buttrill School is hosting a Silent Auction – 6 to 9pm, Jackson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Live Entertainment, No Entry Fee, Open to the Public. Lots of great items from signed Ga. Football team items to flat screen televisions. You do not want to miss this great event and select that great Christmas Present for that special person on your list.

Why not let your organization be part of the most memorable event of the year!  Everyone is invited to join in …Businesses, Churches, Civic Groups, Community Clubs, Fancy or Antique Cars, Fire trucks, Bands, Beauty Queens, Dancers, Horses, Carriages, just everyone!!  Come join in the fun.  All entries should reflect the Holiday Spirit.  PARTICIPANTS IN THE PARADE ARE PROHIBITED FROM DRESSING AS SANTA CLAUSE.  We have contacted the North Pole and confirm that Santa will be present at the Parade.

There will be no throwing of candy or objects from the entries as this is enforced by an ordinance.  The Jackson Police Department will be handling security.

Leadership Class meets with Governor Deal

The Leadership Butts County Class of 2011 met with Governor Nathan Deal on Wednesday for their annual trip to Atlanta. They also went to Georgia EMC and Georgia Power Resource Center where they learned all aspects of Economic
Development about bringing business to Georgia and Butts County.

Butts County Sheriff Gene Pope, Coroner Ralph Wilson and Fire Chief Mike Wilson will conduct the training for this session.

Butts County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament
